Dearest Karena, I am so sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. What a beautiful tribute to her memory. All of the lives she touched as she gathered and shared in faith, family, and community is a beautiful legacy, one that I hope continues to give you comfort.

I too believe that we carry parts of them with us, that there are so many parts of us that are not expressed just one generation later, I love that you see and describe parts of her carried on into her third generation. May you all continue to be blessed and comforted by her memory.

You and your family have my deepest condolences.

🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾

Karen’s, what an amazing tribute to your mother. If “The life you live is the lesson you teach” your mom achieved tenure a long time ago and had a huge student- body.

And you are carrying the torch she passes to you with a plumb - perfectly, completely, and in your own unique image.

Thank you for allowing us to know her through you. 🙏

I'm sorry I have to renege on/postpone the talk to your class, Alissa. I, too, am glad that I shared so much of the "regular" Mom with the world, before we knew how ill she was. And that is the grandmother and mother-in-law whose stories they all got to hear (again!)

I think the quality of a mother’s children is her greatest legacy because they go on to determine the kind of world we live in. And my friend, Ilona, her daughter, is one of the people I love the most in the world. Through my friend’s grace, compassion and intelligence, I feel like Angela’s vicarious daughter. I am so pained by your loss.
