Good advice. My mother cared first for her mother and then for my father and it was a demanding job, both physically and emotionally.

That is what hit me hardest. How physically demanding it is. And emotionally. How challenging it is to change your headspace from "listening" to your parent to "telling".

"If you haven’t yet been a carer, as a parent or of a parent, you may be one within 20 years." that's a truth bomb right there. Something I wouldn't have been able to see / predict in my shortsighted vision.
