Why are our mothers' stories somehow more interesting than ours? I always feel this nostalgia for a time I never experienced, nor, a place I've ever seen, and I felt this here. Thank you for sharing your mother's stories and memories.
What a dream to read the voices of two writers I admire in one post. I loved all of it, especially: “The boundaries I established with my story reclamation disables the old, worn story of self-sacrifice.” Thank you both for breaking old myths, but also being the stuff of myths.

Thank you for your comment, Scholar.
Eloquently said! Entree into a private world is the perfect way to explain it :)
