Love that you are meditating! The most important advice I've received about meditation is from my co-leader of retreats for women alcoholics/addicts - "You can't meditate wrong!" Any attempt at calming and focusing our minds is worthwhile. Just show up, breathe, follow your breath...in/out...fell your body relaxing, your mind calming. I don't use apps much, but Insight Timer has lots of them, plus the ability to see that others around the world are sitting with you at the same time. I love the energy of meditating with others. Love YOU!

Going to explore insight as soon as this "calm" trial ends. Thanks for your support. And for realizing that there is only my way, not th3 right way.

That’s great advice! Just showing up and breathing is so important. Insight Timer sounds really helpful for meditation. Keep up the good work!

"A desire arises in the mind. It is satisfied; immediately another comes. In the interval which separates two desires a perfect calm reigns in the mind. It is at this moment freed from all thought, love or hate. Complete peace equally reigns between two mental waves." ~ Swami Sivananda

"I have to be still enough to discover what is hiding in plain sight." This is the most true, potent, and ripe insight that could be shared. It's all right there.

The concept of negative space is key in the visual arts especially photography. An open empty space can highlight a subject, change a mood, provide contrast, create meaning. You're right on track as always Karena.

Love the pics you sprinkled in the piece!! For meditation, I personally enjoyed two: (1) Balance, and (2) Waking Up by Sam Harris. I find (1) to be quite convenient and comfortable to use - last time I checked, they offer a free 1 year subscription! And (2) is a bit more advanced I think, but really high quality. It's paid, but you can ask for free access no questions asked - just send the team an email. Hoping it goes well for you!
