So good! I just read the Shawn Puri article because of this. And this line got me, “They are the only people on earth who care about you more than you even care about yourself.” Thank you for sharing it!
Phew, what an important piece. I have been thinking about this so much, and shy away from facing the facts of aging parents, and conscious time to spend with them. Thanks for this, Karena! Also just ordered your book to my Kindle. Time to get reading 💖
Emma, time with our elders is easier than you think. I think what I most wanted to emphasize was the intentionality of that time together. Selfishly hoarding smells, sounds, memories.
Thanks to you, I pulled out those exercises, Linart! And I am looking forward to our next chat to see if you offered the timeline to your parents, and what their insights were.
And it takes little effort, but maybe a little more thought. Thanks for this support, Margaret. You have watched many people support their families. What simple ideas can we share forward?
I’m not sure I have any insights to add to yours Karena - your doing it at considerable distances is an element I haven’t had to experience. That takes deliberation and forward thinking. And love.
“I chose to braid my career, my children and my parents in parallel.”
Makes me smile so big. What a gift you are. To them and to us.
AMEN.
Your comment was the final pin to convince me to write on the topic of time.

Always appreciate the conversations I have with you Karena (and how much they get me moving to do something bolder)

It was fun to see the materials come alive after so many years! I'll let you know when I made something happen with them.
I love, love this post Karena. And yes, love is a verb. 💞

I love the idea of finding pockets of time to create memories with loved ones. It's amazing how those moments can be so valuable. Impressive work 🌟👏.
