I never realized how slowing down to sketch could be so rewarding. The details you notice when you take your time are incredible. Amazing work! 🎨👏

"When is the last time I truly slowed down? Would I know how to?"

Damn, this line hit deep.

You have it all, Ishan. Photos. Sketches. Stories. And now videos. I'll be watching for more great examples for me to follow.

I am honored and what a pleasure it is to enjoy these dividends of your work and travels with you here. Thank you for sharing. Never forget Isabella of Castile. :)

I'm in Madrid at present, and yes, great metaphors for how influential and effective she was. Thanks for all the tutoring, Steven.

I love your love for taking pictures - AND sharing them. Steven Foster is indeed a wonderful catalyst for that. I can attest!

My husband Andrew is just like you describe yourself as water finding its way around the obstacles. I struggle to find the same nooks and crannies and get stuck - especially behind Italian tourists who have no conception of there being other people who are using the pavement for things like walking, or commuting. It’s like they all (no exceptions!) want to be permanent walkway obstacles.

Speaking of which, when are you coming to London? When can we reconvene, take photos, and exchange stories?

Ha ha! I love the way you describe your Italian obstructions! I look forward to a long lazy conversation (or many) with you. DM'd

What a fabulous trip you’ve brought me on - I like to note things down, and love what it yields up through even a few moments of attention, but sketching is on another level. Wonderful writing too Karena!

Just a moment of attention can last decades, I have noticed as I go through my mother's notebook, Margaret. Your recent Camino must had provided so many moments

Ten centuries into sketches and an unforgettable (and now immortalized) experience! Thanks for "bringing" me on this trip with you, Karena :)

You inspired this, Becky! Your ability to create the illusion with well placed dots gave me courage to remind myself of the moment. And particularly to slow down!

I've done drawing on a few of my trips. It is one of the best ways to force you slow down and focus on details you would have otherwise missed.

I just wished I enjoyed it more so I'd do it more often.

It such a slow down hack, isnt it?!

If your planning to do this long term, I'd suggest doing a short urban sketching class. James Richards has some really good ones on skillshare.
