"Talking to Strangers" - in the end it was interesting how much Gladwell threaded its way through this story - the candy, the puzzle pieces and the book title!
But yes. I would highly recommend following Amman on LinkedIn. He has such a great ringside seat on new ideas, but also a real-lived experience evaluator's sense of marketing and technology tactics.
I LOVED this profile Karena. How many new and innovative inventions and solutions are waiting out there in the minds and hearts of others that might emerge given the right encouragement? Your article highlights the need to celebrate these kinds of individuals who are willing to take a shot at finding success off the beaten path.
When I look around, so few of us are actually ON the beaten path that the metaphor confuses me!
What I really liked about Amman's story is his willingness to "notice" the opportunity in what his co-creator was telling him. It reminds me of the serendipity of Botox and Post-Its and all the products that started out as one thing but ended up another. Now, that is a metaphor for many a career journey!!
Good point, though I think that those who are transcending the traditional path just happen to make up our close circle and there are loads of others who need encouragement to make the leap.
A mutually beneficial relationship, Kathy, because i learn so much from you. You demonstrate tenacity in constantly applying (and placing) in photography competitions.
What a great feature! Amman and his story is incredible. I loved how you met him and your curiousity that led to it!
