Oh my, Ishan! These are within a half hour of my home. There are even more beautiful places right across this LARGE and beautiful country. If you want to be astounded, make sure you either come visit in different seasons, different parts of the country - or come and spend a lot of time!
For instance, the Canadian Rockies is spectacular.
Thanks for the shoutout Karena! And also, thank you for giving us a glimpse of the salmon run and canadian autumn - beautiful words matching the beautiful colors of the photos!
You are welcome. It is truly a Canadian privilege to be able to watch this amazing process. Less common than the Fall colours, which was another WOW feature for someone who grew up on the Equator and Tropics. It's an experience I treasure. (Photos could have done with a better edit, but it is Canadian Thanksgiving and food prep took priority!)
This edition is as much a gift to others as a reminder for me on why this beautiful earth, in the way she is now, is worth the fight. Thanks, Margaret.
This says so much about you that you spent the time required to observe this process in the wild and allow yourself to take in the breadth of this small piece of nature-theater. Thanks for sharing the breakthrough video of that one persistent fish, swimming upstream. An inspiring little spirit!
It does take an amazing amount of patience to capture the salmon on a quiet day. I cut a lot of those videos and zoomed in so that they would fit in mailboxes. It is amazing that the human eye can pick out the slightest movement from 100 feet away. I counted over 11 minutes of video that I took. Each time I was SO sure they were going to take a run at the teensy rapid, but foiled again. I have lots of footage of leaves gently falling in the breeze!
Thanks for the discussion. I've edited in my Instagram reel from 2022 at sea-level so you can have a sense of how big these are (compared to the ducks) and how they all line up for take off!
Karena, you have to show me this place when I come to Canada. The pictures are killer!

We welcome your presence and thoughtful additions to our Tribe, Maymie.
Such lovely photos! Autumn is one of my favorite seasons because of the wonderful colors.
"I am, again, filled with awe at the beauty and science that surrounds us."
You show this with your gorgeous writing and photos! Thank you, Karena!
Sometimes I suppose that is our role as sentient beings to SEE, to appreciate and absorb the beauty all around us.
What a great phrase: Our role as sentient beings to SEE, to appreciate and absorb the beauty all around us.
I'm saving this one, Joann.
Love the photos and the videos. And thank you for your patience in capturing the salmon so we could enjoy it as well!

Happy Thanksgiving, Rick!

Ha ha, well, thank you for your patient capture of this little miracle swimmer!
Just for a sense of scale, Rick, that little guy is around 3 foot long!
Wow!!
