You're asking some really big questions Karena. It's great to see you do it as someone who is thinking about the future of work in general and as a parent in particular.

I'd love to know what you think we need to address these challenges. ALEC is a great framework for helping each other, but what will it take to change the existing frameworks and stigma around mental health and self-advocacy? Does it look like government imposed boundaries like France tried a few years ago? Do you foresee an employee led collectivism that changes the relationship like in Mutualism? Is it something else? I get that predicting the future is hard, but I'd love to know what you see as opportunities and why you think they're good chances.

Your part on career progressions made me wonder if we might benefit from something akin to teach for America or the Peace Corps right out of school (or from my own background, military service). If your career won't teach you the entry level skills to progress, maybe we can use those skills to both employ young workers and benefit each other collectively.

Thank you for reading in between the lines and asking searching questions, Latham. First I think that great sanitizer: daylight. Talk about it more, so that more people can have the range of query you had. I think that helps with stigma. We saw that with the range of support for cancer patients and prevention.

"Eyes wide open" is another. When we realize that this situation exists we are less likely to be surprised and xaught unawares. And handle it better.

I love that you are having this important conversation in the context of the future of work. Everyone accuses Gen Z of emoting all over the place but you offer helpful reminders, principally that the start of their careers offer less economic stability and boundaries. Who wouldn’t find a perkless, endless state of responsibility unsettling?

It is also useful to see the visual erosion of work boundaries between Millennials and Gen Z. Those toggles speak in the language of your audience.

Thank you for sharing the ALEC model. I think empathy as a tool is always a good idea. Create space for people when you can cause you never know what they are going through.

And I will take some time to listen to the talk this weekend. I’ll likely be pausing and picking up as I can. Thank you for sharing that.

I am grateful that my opportunity to moderate that panel expanded my interest in this important topic.

This edition is my spin based on my particular interest, moving up to a 30,000 foot level. The ground and guideposts are shifting in this new economy, and that can be disconcerting.

The most important thing I can suggest is to make sure the young people around us learn to take a real digital break on a regular cycle, so they can catch their breath from the onslaught of information.

(And thanks for liking my son’s video. John Legend? I'll pass along that praise! He'll be as proud as I am for the comparison.)
