Dateline: Goa, India
Finally a true TL;DR edition from me! No time to write. I would have loved to say I am rested. Instead I am rejuvenated through the frequent hugs and conversations.
Rest element 17: A real time out
The rest and reset editions discuss ways to consciously take time so that we do not burn out. I’m learning to get my recharge in whatever way I can. I’m in my element of a Goan village Christmas - hanging stars, making Christmas sweets with cousins around the kitchen table, and carol singing. Watching my son connect with our soil brings me joy. I feel like I am able to extend the link among the generations by teaching my son lessons and observations that I learned from my Grandmother - passed down to her by her Grandmother.
If you read my Christmas essay last year you will recall my close attachment to my Christmas memories as a child.
I write in cycles of seven. Every seventh is a rest edition that encourages the 21st-century skill of planning recovery and reflection into our day. We zoom out, look at the bigger picture, take a breath, and reset. We explore rest-related practices (heirloom skills) such as good sleep, pacing, and recharging. Read this for more on the topic “THE ONE WHERE… Rest Edition Recap” summary.
I wish you the opportunity for some quiet reflection and enjoyment of everyone in your life.
I’m looking forward to meeting
and in Goa soon. If you are SEAsia December-February, lets connect via zoom or in person. ( )Recap: Digest of issues 114 - 118
Since my last Rest edition 16 (written in Canada) my little laptop has travelled halfway around the world with me and my mother. This most recent cycle of seven is dominated by travel, transition, and the generosity of guest writers.
I thank all the members of Tribe Tilt who stepped forward to support me by offering to share their essays with my readership while I balance eldercare, Flora Project and time in Goa. This kind of ecosystem creates sustainability, where we support each other in our moments of need, and provide the frames to allow others to climb, blossom and be seen.
GUEST ESSAYS GALORE - It has been a pleasure to showcase the beautiful writing and insights of twenty-somethings. They are a small sample size from this amazing explorer generation. In their writing I see insightsand maturity and know that the future of the world is in good hands.
21st-CENTURY SKILLS: Gratitude and “thanks giving” help to develop resilience. The value of respectful debate improves our decision-making
Blessings!
