“Real weight, built from a collection of weightless things.”
I loved this Karena! Such a pithy and profound perspective. I’m going to reach out to a high school friend this weekend and give him the real weight of some gratitude :)
I know you would be reaching out regardless, James, because that is the kind of person you are. But a little part of me hopes that my post is adding some gravitas to your gravitas to your gratitude. Thank you for this generous comment.
I really enjoyed our conversation - a highlight of my week. It felt like we were circling the same room from two different doors: inherited conditioning posing as “common sense.”
Two things you said that keep reverberating in me:
→ “We parent as we were parented.”
All the more poignant as I spend time with my parents and have my kids here visiting - It’s real-time observation and feedback!!
→ “The words you hear at 15 echo at 50.” This speaks volumes.
Karena — a great comparison you drew for us, and a meaningful life lesson and reminder! (I am also enjoying your sketches. I hope you’re saving them, and that they make their way to another KdS published work someday.) I feel like I should sign off with }…{ for this one.
David!!!!! So wonderful to see your name pop up on my feed again. Without your steady encouragement and kind but pointed observations, my podcast and book would never have seen the light of day.

I always liked your conversation characters: “}…{` If the chatbot doesn't get it, then too bad for it ;)
I love that you have always been a fan of these!!!!
Hi Karena - thanks for the warm welcome!

I look forward to another convo soon.
Let's get another conversation booked soon, Zaheer!
I love the vignette of you watching a case study of the experiences that inspired my core phrases!

Let's make some time to catch up soon please?
What a great observation: "solutions can snowball".
